February 17, 2000 – Chicago – Classified Ventures, Inc. today announced the addition of The San Diego Union-Tribune to its network of 135 affiliated newspapers. As the leading provider of buying information in the on-line classified advertising marketplace, Classified Ventures brings national scale and distribution to The San Diego Union-Tribune’s market leading Web initiatives at www.signonsandiego.com.
Scheduled for April 2000, SignOnSanDiego.com will launch Classified Venture’s cars.com, the leading online automotive shopping site. By logging onto SignOnSanDiego.com and selecting cars.com, local consumers will be able to search for new and used vehicles from local and national dealership inventories and San Diego Union-Tribune classified listings, while accessing a wide range of practical information including financing and insurance quotes.
The addition of the San Diego Union-Tribune marks the second non-investor affiliate to join the Classified Ventures network. The San Diego Union-Tribune is the largest daily in the market with a Sunday circulation of nearly a half million. SignOnSanDiego.com is the most trafficked local site in San Diego with 20 percent market penetration.
